"So what's with the books, dude?"

Most heathens like to read. We read the myths, literature, archeology, history, and study the languages and cultures. There are more modern works about today's heathenry in general. Check for a bibliography before buying. Heathens sometimes honor their ancestors by researching their family history using genealogical methods. However, no matter what you read on the internet, such as in Facebook heathen groups, a DNA sample to prove European ancestry is NOT required to practice heathenry!

A 5 gal. carboy of mead ready for racking.

Mead is an ancient fermented beverage that was made in parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. The ancient Europeans including the Celtic and Germanic speaking peoples made mead as well as beer and ale. They played an important part in the mythology, lore and culture. Today we homebrew to reach back and connect with our ancestors. It's also a way to get together and share our bonds of friendship. This does not mean that consuming alcoholic beverages is a requirement of heathenry. There are many heathens who do not drink alcohol.

Welcome to the Columbus Mead Hall blog!

We will be posting photos and other information about the Mead Hall and its activities. For instance, we make mead and we are good at it! We meet for happy hour almost every Friday. We are looking for Heathens in central Ohio who are interested in becoming members. (Note that this NOT a commercial meadery.) Visit our main web page at Columbus Mead Hall.
